How did Lucy Burns’ and Alice Paul’s hunger strike bring awareness to women’s rights?

Answer:

Alice Paul started the hunger strike to protest while in jail

Explanation:

While I'm not sure why she was sentenced to jail, from what I've read, they weren't given any proper treatment as political prisoners. The jails had poor sanitation, infested food, and probably so much more. Because of this, she decided to go on a hunger strike. Due to the hunger strike, she was brought to the prison's psych ward and was fed raw eggs through a feeding tube by force. I'm assuming this made protesters realize what was happening and it was somehow tied into the 19th amendment; the right for women to vote. Apparently sometime after, she also played a big role in protecting women during the Civil rights act in 1964.

Why did the eastern mediterranean have a demand for slaves?
aksik [14]

Answer:

The Eastern Mediterranean had a demand for slaves because there was an emerging need for agricultural workers and soldiers.

Explanation:

 • The Eastern Mediterranean being the greatest producer of grapes, dates, and figs, the number of people needed to work on the fields there went on increasing as the demand for these products went on increasing from all over the world.
 • Moreover, the expansionist movements prevalent in the Eastern Mediterranean region sought more people to fight for them.
 • Thus, the practice of slavery went on becoming rigid as more and more land started coming under cultivation and as the expansionist movements took pace.

I believe that the correct answer is (b). As the tribe divided over voluntary removal, Elias Boudinot and John Ridge became the two Cherokee leaders of opposite viewpoints. Boudinot considered that the removal was inevitable and signed the Treaty of New Echota in 1835 with other treaty supporters. On the other hand, the chief of Cherokee nation, John Ridge, tried to stop white political leaders from forcing them to move; he was backed by the majority. Their resistance resulted in the "Trail of Tears" (Nu na da ul tsun yi (the place where they cried)) in which one-fourth of the Cherokee forced to move died.
