Jim Crow laws were the kind of societal laws that governed social class and social behavior. The bottom of the pyramid was usually African Americans and the top was white men and church folk. The Jim Crow laws were basically segregation-- separate schools, water fountains, public places, seating and more .

Barley was used to make beer and bread, and was also used as a currency. It was Egypts staple cereal.
