Decide whether each statement about hormones and their role in homeostasis is true or false. The body uses feedback loops to reg

ulate the amount of hormones. Hormones tell the body when, where, and how to grow. Positive feedback is when one hormone influences the level of another hormone to slow down or inhibit a process in the body. Hormones released during labor are an example of a negative feedback loop. Hormones affect development, behavior, and reproduction.

Explanation: Homeostasis is the bodies way of keeping balance and every system in order. It responds to stimulus induced by hormones and nuerotransmitters to trigger a certain response using a certain system. These stimulus can be classified as a positive or negative feedback. A positive feedback will enhance a process or a creation of a certain product or protein whereas a negative feedback will lower, inhibit or stop a process. For these to successfully take place the brain will respond to stimulus and secrete hormones that will trigger a response.

A common example is the hormone insulin that is secreted when there is too much blood glucose. Insulin is a negative feedback that halts glycolysis and initiate glycogenesis the storage of glucose in form of glycogen in the cell.
