The French and Indian War led to conflict between the Colonies and Great Britain for several reasons. For one thing Britain was ending the timeframe of "Salutary Neglect" and beginning to interfere in the lives of the Colonists again. However I believe that the main reason friction came between the Colonists and Britain is due to the fact that Britain began imposing harsh taxes on the colonies because Britain was trying to pay the debt it accumulated from the French and Indian War. This in turn led to the rallying cry: "No taxation without representation." The Colonists said that because none of the colonies had an official representative in Parliament.
