There are different reasons why countries goes to wars. The effects of the Spanish-American War or the building of the Panama Canal was known to be very great.

<h3> Why  the Spanish-American War?</h3>

A key reason or cause of the Spanish American War was due to the humanitarian concerns over Cuba. Another was American Business interests in Cuba and their aim to remove Spain from the Western Hemisphere.

The motivation for war were because America's were in support of the struggle by Cubans and Filipinos against Spanish rule, and the explosion that took place in the battleship U.S.S. Maine situated in Havana Harbor.

The effects of the war was that it brought imperialism, lots of lives, men were lost. This war was known to have divided the  believe  of the people for or against imperialism.

Other effects of the Spanish-American War is that Cuba gained their independence from Spain, United States got Guam, Puerto Rico, etc.
