Answer:

Rectangular area

side a  =  3 units

side b  = 2.60 units

Step-by-step explanation: See annex

We have an equilateral triangle (3 equal sides, three equal inside angles)

side length  =  6

∠  ABC  = ∠BCA  = ∠CAB  =  60⁰

tan 60⁰  =  sin 60⁰/cos 60⁰    =  √3/2 / 1/2

tan 60⁰  = √3

From annex

tan ∠ ABC    =   √3   =  b/x      then    b  =  √3 * x

and   a  =  6 - 2*x     ( by symmetry)

Then

A = a*b

A(x)  =  ( 6 - 2*x ) * √3 *x

A(x)  =  6*√3 *x - 2*√3 *x²

Taking derivatives on both sides of the equation we get:

A´(x)  =  6*√3  - 4*√3 *x    ⇒    A´(x)  = 0      ⇒  6*√3  - 4*√3 *x  = 0

x =  6/4         ⇒     x   =  1.5

then    a  =  6 - 2*x         ⇒    a  =  6 - 3   ⇒     a  =  3 (units)

and  b  =  √3*x   =  1.5 *√3  =  2.60 units

We get a rectangle (almost a square)

What is the answer to 1 2/3÷10+5
ratelena [41]

Answer:

The answer is 5 1/6

Step-by-step explanation:

1 2/3 ÷ 10 + 5

5/3 ÷ 10/1 + 5/1

From the rule of BODMAS, we solve for division before subtraction

to change division to multiplication, 10/1 will become 1/10, then will we have

5/3 × 1/10 +  5/1

1/3 ×1/2 + 5/1

1/6 + 5/1

The common multiple of 6 and 1 is 6, so if we solve for the fraction, we will have

1/6 + 30/6 = 31/6

= 5 1/6

A 50- centimeter piece of wire in bent into a circle. What is the area of this circle
nirvana33 [79]

50cm would be the circumference.

Formule for circumference is:

C=2(pi)r

Solve for radius:

50=2(pi)r

r=50/2(pi)

r=7.96

Use this to solve for area

A=(pi)r^2

A=(pi)(7.96)^2

A=199cm

13. A rectangle has a width that is twice as long as its length and an area of 722 square inches. Find the length of the diagona
LekaFEV [45]

Answer:

The diagonal of the rectangle is approximately 42.5 inches.

Step-by-step explanation:

The area of a rectangle is given by the following formula:

area = width*length

In this case the width = 2*length, therefore we have:

area = 2*length²

722 = 2*length²

2*length² = 722

length² = 361

length = sqrt(361) = 19 inches

width = 2*length = 2*19 = 38 inches

The diagonal forms a right triangle with the sides of the rectangle, where it is the hypotenuse. Therefore we can use Pytagora's theorem:

diagonal = sqrt(length² + width²)

diagonal = sqrt(19² + 38²) = 42.485 inches

The diagonal of the rectangle is approximately 42.5 inches.
