The patch gives off hormones through the skin to prevent pregnancy. The female condom does not have hormones. Like a male condom it acts as a barrier to prevent the sperm from entering the cervix resulting in pregnancy. A vasectomy is a male form of birth control which permanently prevents a male from being fertal.
