What is an equation of the line that passes through the points (0, -5) and<br> (-5, -1)?
nataly862011 [7]

Answer:

y=mx+b

y=-4/5x+5b

Step-by-step explanation:

(0,-5)

(-5,-1)

-1+5 is 4

-5-0 is -5

-4/5 is the slope

use one of the points and substitute x to find the y intercept, which gives you the full equation, which is y=-4/5x+5

A certain rectangle has length 2x + 1 and width x + 1, find an expression for its area. You
disa [49]

Answer:

2x² + 12x + 10

Step-by-step explanation:

Area of a rectangle = width x length

Therefore,

Area = (x + 1)(2x + 10)

Expand the brackets:    2x² + 10x + 2x + 10

Combine like terms:      2x² + 12x + 10

A quadratic expression is an expression with the variable with the highest power of 2

Uncle Joe is cutting boards for bookshelves. If he begins with 9 feet of wood, how many shelves will he cut if each one is 1 1/2
kherson [118]

To get the answer, you divide the length of the board by the size of the pieces wanted, so the equation you get is

9/1.5 = 6

So you can get six 1.5in shelves from a 9ft board

A line passes through the point (–7, 5) and has a slope of 1/2. Which is another point that the line passes through?
Andrej [43]
The answer to this question is (9,13). Here's how:
First thing you need to do is find the equation. You have a coordinate point and the slope. Remember a linear equation or formula is y=mx+b (m= slope and b= y-intercept)

So let's input the slope into the equation:
y=1/2x+b or y=0.5x+b
Notice how there is no b yet? That's because you need to find it. Good thing you have the coordinate points, so replace x and y with it. ( (x,y) = ( -7, 5) )

5=0.5(-7)+b
5= -3.5+b
+3.5 +3.5
b= 8.5
The equation is now y=0.5x+8.5 and with that equation you can now input it in a calculator to find which of the following coordinate points lies on. Or you can just input those points into the calculator. Which I did because I love to show my work. I have a picture of the work included and I really do hope I helped you. If not, message me. I'll be glad you to help you!
