The New England colonies were led very strict Puritan lifestyles. They lived close by to each other, and everyone knew each other, where as in the Southern colonies, everyone lived far apart. In April 1952, Harry Truman nationalized the steel industry to prevent the workers' strike, that was scheduled to begin that month. It led to the famous Steel Seizure Case, the first case in the U.S. court history to limit the power and entitlements of the president of America. The jury took a stand that the president doesn't hold it in his power to interfere with private property.
They removed existing rulers from the conquered lands to ensure they had direct control of their enemies' trade routes. They forced all the people they conquered to trade directly with them, increasing their wealth from the sale of additional goods. They took all conquered people as prisoners and forced them to work as slaves on public works projects. The tribute demanded from conquered peoples provided warriors for defense, as well as food and resources for their own people.
