Let

x---------> time in minutes used by Eric to study

y---------> time in minutes used by Kendra to study

z---------> time in minutes used by Geraldo to study

we know that

x=3y------> equation 1

x=0.5z

z=2x--------> equation 2

y=20 minutes --------> equation 3

substitute equation 3 in equation 1

x=3*20=60 minutes

find the value of z in equation 2

z=2*60=120 minutes

therefore

the answer is

The time in minutes used by Geraldo to study was 120 minutes

How many solutions does the system have? y=−2x−4 y=3x+3
Molodets [167]

Answer:

One Solution

Step-by-step explanation:

First substitute the y in the first equation with the second equation to get

-2x-4=3x+3

since theres a variable of both sides, you subtract the variable with the least coefficient, in this case, you add 2x to both sides to get

-4=5x+3

subtract the constant on both sides to get

-1=5x

divide both sides by 5

x= -0.2 or -1/5

Terrence and 4 friends go to a book sale at which hardcover books cost $2 and paperback books cost $1. Each person buys an equal
Gnoma [55]

Answer:

A. How many paperback books each person buys.

Step-by-step explanation:

In the equation the x represents how many paperback books they can buy.

In the equation the 2 represents that 1 hardcover book was purchased.

In the equation the 35 represents how much money they spent in total.

The equation is complete except for x which has to be substituted with how many paperback books they can buy. Which would be 5.

Hope This Helps :)

Help ASAP please!! Thank you!!
Lady_Fox [76]

Solution for the system of linear equations is (4, - 3)

Step-by-step explanation:

Step 1:

Given system of equations

x - 3y = 13 -------- (1)

2x + 4y = - 4 ----- (2)

Step 2:

Multiply eq(2) with 2 to make coefficients of x equal.

2x - 6y = 26 ------ (3)

Step 3:

Subtract eq(2) from eq(3)

⇒ - 10y = 30

⇒ y = -3

Step 4:

Find value of x by substituting value of y in eq(1)

⇒ x - 3 × (-3) = 13

⇒ x + 9 = 13

⇒ x = 4
