Hi! So if this is on a graph the line would be straight up and down. However if you are given an ex tell you you would insert the x value into the equation by multiplying it by 4 to get the Y value.

Express the polynomial z2 − z4 + 2z2 in standard form and then classify it.
Inessa05 [86]
The answer in standard form is
-z^4 + 3z^2
This is a quartic polynomial

The term with the highest exponent is listed first, then you list the next largest and so on. The like terms are z^2 and 2z^2 which combine to 3z^2

Find the x-intercepts and y-intercept of the following function (x−5)(x−3)(4x+8)
Sergio [31]
X-intercepts:
(x-5)(x-3)(4x+8)=0

x-5=0 x-3=0 4x+8=0
x=5 x=3 x=-8/4
x=-2

Y-intercept:
sub x=0
(0-5)(0-3)(4(0)+8)=y

(-5)(-3)(8)=y

y = 120

Answer:

\boxed{\text{1172 in}^{2}}

Step-by-step explanation:

SA = SA(prism) + SA(cylinder) – 2SA(cylinder base)

1. Surface area of rectangular prism

The formula for the surface area of a rectangular prism is

S = 2(lw + lh + wh)

Data:

 l = 16 in

w = 11  in

h = 11  in

Calculations:

2(Top + Bottom) = 2lw  = 2 × 16 × 11 = 352 in²

 2(Front + Back) = 2lh   = 2 × 16 × 11 = 352 in²

   2(Left + Right) = 2wh = 2 × 11 × 11  = <u>242 in² </u>

                                        Total area =  946 in²

2. Surface area of cylinder

A = A(top) + A (base) + A(side)  = 2A(base) + A(side)

Data:

d = 8 in

h = 9 in

Calculations:

r = ½d  = ½ × 8 = 4 in

\begin{array}{rcl}SA & = & 2\pi r^{2}+ 2\pi rh \\& = & 2 \times 3. 14\times 4^{2} +2\times 3. 14 \times 4\times 9\\& = & 6.28\times 16 + 226.08\\& = & 100.48 + 226.08\\& = & 326.56 \text{ in}^{2}\\\end{array}

3. Excluded area

Excluded area = 2A(base) = 100.48 in²

4. Total area

A = 946 + 326.56 - 100.48 \approx \boxed{\textbf{1172 in}^{2}}

How is the graph of y= square root x+3 translated from the graph of y = √x
Law Incorporation [45]

9514 1404 393

Answer:

  3 units left

Step-by-step explanation:

Replacing x in a function with (x-h) translates the graph to the right by h units. Here, you have h = -3, so the graph is translated left 3 units.
