Word problem: Today the temperature dropped 13 °F. After this drop, the temperature was 74 °F. What was the original temperature outside before the drop?

Subtraction problem: x °F - 13 °F = 74 °F

Solve: x - 13 = 74
x - 13(+13) = 74 + 13
x = 87 °F

What is 4/9 - 2/15 in simplest form
Georgia [21]
To subtract 2 fraction we have to make common denominator.
\frac{4}{9} - \frac{2}{15} = \frac{4*5}{9*5}- \frac{2*3}{15*3}  = \frac{20}{45}- \frac{6}{45} = \frac{20-6}{45}= \frac{14}{45} - its the simpest form

the question is on the sheet .The shaded region is the area within the figure but not the corner squares
quester [9]

Based on the information given in the exercise, you know that the shaded region has this area:

6x^2-2xy+3y^2

And the area of each square region in the corners is:

4x^2

Since there are four square regions, you can multiply that the area of any of them by 4, in order to find the total area of them:

4(4x^2)=16x^2

Then, in order to find the total area of the figure, you must add the area of the shaded region and the total area of the square regions:

(6x^2-2xy+3y^2)+(16x^2)=22x^2^{}-2xy+3y^2

Therefore, the total of the figure is:

22x^2-2xy+3y^2

A pilot is flying a plane 4.5 mi above the earth’s surface.
andriy [413]
X^2 +r^2 = (r+h)^2 re write as x^2 = h^2 + 2*Rh
h = 4.5r = 3959
x^2 = 4.5^2 + 2 *3959 * 4.5
x^2 = 20.25 + 35631
x^2 = 35651.25
x = sqrt(35651.25)
x = 188.8 miles

What is the following product? Assume b>/= 0
andrew-mc [135]

Answer:

b

Step-by-step explanation:

we have

\sqrt{b}*\sqrt{b}

Rewrite the expression

\sqrt{b}*\sqrt{b}=(b^{\frac{1}{2}})*(b^{\frac{1}{2}})

we know that

When multiplying two powers that have the same base, you can add the exponents

so

(b^{\frac{1}{2}})*(b^{\frac{1}{2}})=b^{(\frac{1}{2}+\frac{1}{2})}=b^{1}=b
