The sum of two numbers is 13 more than twice the first number:

x + y = 2x +13

x - y = y - 14

solve the system of equations:

x - (x + 13) = (x +13) - 14

x = -12

y = 1

Find the scale factor of a cube with volume 216 ft^3 to a cube with volume 1000 ft^3.
Bad White [126]

Answer:

Scale factor of  cube to the smaller cube is 5 : 3.

Step-by-step explanation:

Ratio of the volumes of two cubes = \frac{\text{volume of large prism}}{\text{Volume of small prism}}

                                                          = \frac{1000}{216}

                                                          = \frac{125}{27}

Scale factor of these cubes = \sqrt[3]{\text{ratio of the volumes of the cubes}}

                                              = \sqrt[3]{\frac{\text{volume of large prism}}{\text{Volume of small prism}}}

                                              = \sqrt[3]{\frac{125}{27} }

                                              = \frac{5}{3}

                                              = 5 : 3

Therefore, scale factor of  cube to the smaller cube is 5 : 3.

The data show the traveler spending in billions of dollars for a recent year for a sample of the states. Round your answers to t
xz_007 [3.2K]

Answer:

The range of given data set is 90.

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given the following data:

20.9, 33.1, 21.8, 58.5, 23.5, 110.9, 30.4, 24.9, 74.1, 60.3, 40.4, 45.4

When this data is arranged in ascending order, we get:

20.9 , 21.8 , 23.5 , 24.9 , 30.4 , 33.1 , 40.4 , 45.4 , 58.5 , 60.3 , 74.1 , 110.9

Range is a measure of dispersion and can be easily calculated.

Formula:

Range = \text{Maximum values - minimum value}

Range = 110.9 - 20.9 = 90

Thus, the range of given data set is 90.

F(x) and g(x) were inverse functions, then if f(a) = b, then g(b) = a

f(x) = (5x+1) / x g(x) = x / (5x+1)

f(1) = 6, but g(6) = 6/31 ≠ 1

So, f(x) and g(x) are NOT inverse functions.
