Which of these is not involved in the digestion of food?
Ugo [173]

Answer:

B. The esophagus is the least complex section of the digestive tube.

- Its role in digestion is simple: to convey boluses of food from the pharynx to the stomach.

bolus: a small rounded mass of a substance, especially of chewed food at the moment of swallowing.

Explanation:

A. liver The liver processes the nutrients absorbed from the small intestine.

- Bile from the liver secreted into the small intestine also plays an important role in digesting fat and some vitamins.

C. mouth The mouth is the beginning of the digestive tract. In fact, digestion starts before you even take a bite.Your salivary glands get active as you see and smell the pasta dish or warm bread. After you start eating, you chew your food into pieces that are more easily digested.

D. stomach In the stomach food undergoes chemical and mechanical digestion.

- Here peristalitic contractions (mechanical digestion) churn the bolus, which mixes with strong digestive juices that the stomach lining cells secrete (chemical digestion.
