Jackie is writing a speech that claims that students should sell fruit instead of candy for the school fundraiser. In her speech

, Jackie wants to rebut the counterclaim that “students should sell candy like last year.” Which is the best rebuttal that Jackie could use in her speech? I know that we sold candy last year, but we don’t always have to sell candy every year we have a school fundraiser. We could try selling something different this year, like fruit. Last year we sold several thousand dollars worth of candy, and all you students ate that candy, which is probably why you want to sell candy again this year. But I don’t think that’s a good reason. I know a lot of students want to sell candy like last year, but fruit tastes sweet too and is better for us. Isn’t the country trying to encourage healthier eating these days? Last year I sold a lot of candy, just like you did, and we made a lot of money for the school. But I felt guilty selling so much candy to little kids whose teeth would rot and who might have gotten sick from eating all that candy. Don’t kids get enough candy as it is?

Allisa [31]
There are three basic components of speech. The first part is the introduction which includes background material to build credibility. Next is the main points and transitions which are the actual body of the speech. Lastly is the conclusion where you emphasize, summarize and restate relevance of introduction with the conclusion.

An example of slant rhyme that includes consonance is
Illusion [34]

Answer:

An example of slant rhyme that includes consonance is D) look-duck.

Explanation:

A slant rhyme consists of word that have similar sounds, but do not rhyme perfectly. That is why it can also be called imperfect rhyme, or even lazy rhyme. The words may have:

- the same consonant sounds but different vowel sounds --> years-yours

- the same vowel sounds but different consonant sounds --> fate-save

When we analyze the options given, we can note that A) took-book and B) look-book are perfect rhymes - vowel and consonant sounds are the same. Option C does not rhyme at all since the pair look-boot shows different vowel and consonant sounds.

Option D) look-duck is a slant rhyme since the two words do have different vowel sounds but present an identical consonant sound (consonance) at the end - lʊk-dʌk.
