They use the media to influence public opinions . More exposure to mass media would greatly influence the peoples eyes suggesting the person with more media influence would likely. Who would want to be on the losing side of the a battle? This idea often changes people's mind and who they would vote. TV for example ,audiences would would see that candidate's way of thinking while also saying the negative of the other person.

The biggest problem was that they had to get supplies from the United States and since they had to go on ships over the Atlantic ocean, they were easy targets for submarines and other ships that would want to destroy them. This was a big problem since much of the cargo was destroyed before it even reached the coasts of Europe.
