We cannot depend on the desert ecosystem for food production because the majority of the desert is covered with sandy soil which unable to produce any crop. Desert ecosystem also features less rainfall and increasing hot temperature. For the crops to thrive, it is required to have a favorable climate with less heat, continuous supply of water, and fertile soil.
