This forms a right triangle with 6 being the base and 10 being the hypotenuse.

Using the Pythagorean theorem solve the distance north, which would be the height of the right triangle.

X = √(10^2 - 6^2)

X = √(100-36)

X = √64

X = 8

The answer is 8 km.

Answer:

8 km

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : Runners in a long distance race start out going 6 kilometers east and then head north for the remainder of the race.

The finish line is 10 kilometers from the starting line.

To Find: How far did the runners travel north?

Solution :

Refer the attached figure

Runners in a long distance race start out going 6 kilometers east  i.e. AB = 6 km

The finish line is 10 kilometers from the starting line.i.e. AC = 10 km

We are supposed to find How far did the runners travel north i.e.CB

So, we will use Pythagoras theorem :

Hypotenuse^2=Perpendicular^2+Base^2

AC^2=CB^2+AB^2

10^2=CB^2+6^2

10^2-6^2=CB^2

\sqrt{10^2-6^2}=CB

8=CB

Hence the runners travel north is 8 km

Can you pls help with these I really need help
alukav5142 [94]

Answer:

for question one - x = 12

Step-by-step explanation:

a triangle is always 180, in other words you will add all the corners equal to 180

ex (for first question) - 7x -2 + 4x + 5x - 10 = 180

you add like terms, the x with x and single numbers with numbers, which results in 16x - 12 = 180. then you do the original operation "what you do to one sign of the equal side you do to the other"

The histogram below shows information about the number of books students read in a month:
max2010maxim [7]

Answer:

Option C is true - The number of students who read 4 books or fewer

Step-by-step explanation:

Here, to find the mean and median, we do not have proper information or specific values. We just have the ranges, so both the mean and median cannot be determined.  So, options A and B are not correct.

We can see two bins covering the 9 or more books, so option D cannot be true either.

Therefore, only option C is left and that is true.-  the number of students who read 4 books or fewer.

mel-nik [20]

Answer:

x = 25°

Step-by-step explanation:

3x + 2x + x + 30° = 180°

6x + 30° = 180°

6x = 150°

x =25°

=> 3x = 25 * 3 = 75°

=> 2x = 25 * 2 = 50°

=> x + 30° = 25° + 30° = 55°
