The Student Non-violent Coordinating Committee or SNCC was formed as a peaceful civil rights organization by Ella Baker to bring young blacks into the movement.
SNCC organized younger blacks into a group to bring about social change using peaceful protest. The group organized the Freedom Rides where blacks challenged the segregation laws for buses. The group also worked to register blacks to vote.
