5. Two vertices of a triangle lie at (4, 0) and (8, 0). The perimeter of the triangle is 12 units. What are all the possible loc

ations of the third vertex? How do you know you have found them all? Can you determine which of these vertices will produce a triangle with the largest area?

Answer: x=8 and y=±3

Step-by-step explanation:

Perimeter= Sum of length of sides

Let A= (4,0)

B= (8,0)

C= (x,y)

So

AB+BC+CA = 12

\sqrt{(8-4)^{2} -(0-0)^{2} } + \sqrt{(x-8)^{2}+(y-0)^{2}  }  + \sqrt{(4-x)^2+(0-y)^{2} }= 12

Solving it, the possible outcomes comes out to be

x= 4, y=±3

x=8, y=±3

x=2, y=0

x=10, y=0

For the largest area, we would use

x=8 and y=±3

The temperature in degrees Fahrenheit of a corpse t hours after death is 58+40e−t/2458+40e−t/24. What is the temperature of the
jolli1 [7]

Answer:

58+40e−t/2458+40e−t/24

step by step explanation:

Normally, the temperature of a corpse is the temperature of the surrounding environment.

This is done by losing or gaining heat to equilibrate to that of the surrounding.

Let's assume that the final temperature of the corpse is after t hrs.

Then the temperature of the surrounding in degree Fahrenheit is equal to 58+40e−t/2458+40e−t/24

Write an equation of the line that passes through the point (6, -9) with the given slope m = 3.
adelina 88 [10]

Answer:

y = 3x - 27

Step-by-step explanation:

The equation of a line in slope- intercept form is

y = mx + c ( m is the slope and c the y- intercept )

Here m = 3 , then

y = 3x + c ← is the partial equation

To find c substitute (6, - 9) into the partial equation

- 9 = 18 + c ⇒ c = - 9 - 18 = - 27

y = 3x - 27 ← equation of line
