then;

Corresponding sides:

$\frac{AB}{AD} = \frac{BC}{DC}$

AB = x units , BC = 5 units, AD = 15 units and DC = BD-BC = 8-5 = 3 units

$\frac{x}{15} = \frac{5}{3}$

By cross multiply we get;

$3x = 15 \cdot 5$

Simplify:

$3x = 75$

Divide both sides by 3 we get;

$\frac{3x}{3}=\frac{75}{3}$

Simplify:

x = 25 units

Therefore, the value of x is 25 units.
