Answer:

#a. OH⁻(aq) + H⁺(aq) → H₂O(l)

#b. 0.000988 moles

#c. 0.000988 moles

#d.30.875 L

Solution and explanation:

38.0 mL of a 0.026 M of HCl is needed to react completely with 0.032 M NaOH solution.

#a. Net ionic equation for the reaction

The reaction between NaOH and HCl is known as neutralization reaction which results to the formation of salt and water as the product.

There equation for the reaction is;

NaOH(aq) + HCl(aq) → NaCl(aq) + H₂O(l)

The net ionic equation for a reaction involves only the ions that have changed their state.

The complete ionic equation is;

Na⁺(aq)OH⁻(aq) + H⁺(aq)Cl⁻(aq) → Na⁺(aq)Cl(aq) + H₂O(l)

Therefore, the net ionic equation will be;

OH⁻(aq) + H⁺(aq) → H₂O(l)

#b. Moles of HCl originally present.

Number of moles is given by multiplying the volume of the solution by its molarity or concentration.

Moles = Volume × Concentration

Volume of HCl = 38.0 mL

Concentration = 0.026 M

Therefore;

Moles = 0.038 × 0.026

          = 0.000988 moles

Moles of HCl is 0.000988 moles

#c. Moles of NaOH used in the reaction

From the equation , 1 mole of HCl reacts with 1 mole of NaOH

Therefore;

The mole ratio of HCl : NaOH is 1 : 1

Hence, moles of NaOH will be 0.000988 moles

0.000988 moles were neutralized by the acid.

#d. Volume of NaOH required to react with the acid

Moles = Volume × Molarity

Therefore;

Volume = Moles ÷ Molarity

Moles of NaOH is 0.000988 moles

Molarity of NaOH is 0.032 M

Thus;

Volume of NaOH = 0.000988 moles ÷ 0.032 M

                             = 0.030875 mL

                             = 30.875 L

Therefore, the volume of the NaOH solution required to react with the acid is 30.875 L.

If you had excess chlorine, how many moles of of aluminum chloride could be produced from 10.0 gg of aluminum? Express your answ
gayaneshka [121]

Answer:

The answer is 0.370moles (3 s.f)

Explanation:

Step 1: write the balanced equation for the reaction

Equation for the reaction:

2Al(s) + 6HCl(g) ---------> 2AlCl3(g) + 3H2(g)

Step 2: Equate the mole of the needed substances

So therefore,

2moles of aluminum will produce 2 moles of aluminum chloride

Note that:

Relative atomic mass of Al = 27 g/mole

And, 27g of Al = 1 mole of Al.

Step 3: Solve for the required number of mole.

2moles of Al = 2moles of AlCl3

Same as

1 mole of Al = 1 mole of AlCl3

27g of Al = 1 mole of AlCl3

10g of Al = (1/27 * 10g) of AlCl3

10g of Al = 0.370moles of AlCl3

Thanks

What is the volume, in liters, of 5.500 mol of C3H3 gas at STP
ZanzabumX [31]

Answer:

123.2 Liters.

Explanation:

At STP (T = 273K & P = 1atm), one mol of any gas will occupy 22.4 liters.

With the above information in mind, we can calculate how many liters would 5.500 mol of gas occupy:

5.500 mol * 22.4 L / mol = 123.2 L

So 5.500 moles of C₃H₃ would have a volume of 123.2 liters at STP.

What term is used to describe the energy level of any level higher than the ground state of a particle?
Xelga [282]

Answer:

B. Excited state

Explanation:

Energy levels higher than the ground state are called the excited states. This concept is based on the premise that electrons can move round the nucleus in certain permissibe orbits or energy levels.

The ground state is the lowest energy state available to the electron. This is usually the most stable state.

The excited state is any level higher than the ground state. An electron in an energy level has a definite amount of energy associated with it at that level.

Study the image, which shows an air mass moving into a region.
DanielleElmas [232]

thunderstorms and heavy rain

Explanation:

The weather in a region with an incoming air mass made up of moist air is predominantly that of thunderstorms and heavy rain.

Moist air brings in rainfall and thunderstorms. They are peculiar and predominant in tropical regions of the world .

  • A moist air is an air mass that is moisture laden or full of water vapor.
  • They are usually formed where evaporation of water vapor from sea water is very high.
  • The evaporated water is warmer and lighter than the surrounding air.
  • By virtue of this, it moves inland and condenses to form massive rainfall accompanied by thunderstorm.
