In the 1950s and 1960s, many women were attracted by new jobs in the developing service industry.

After World war II, the men who returned from the war found most of the jobs in the service industry being carried out by women. Most were in clerical and service jobs, while a smaller number of women worked as nurses or teachers.

Nowadays, the service industries involve the provision of services to businesses as well as final consumers. Such services include accounting, tradesmanship (like mechanic or plumber services), computer services, restaurants, tourism, etc.

During period of 1950’s and 1960’s, many women were inclined towards new jobs of service sectors in developed countries.

Further Explanation:

The most common jobs that women used to do during 1950’s was working as Secretaries, clerical workers, Sales clerks, private household workers and teachers. But, the highest paid job for women during that time was to work as Nurse. But, as the period of 1960’s started, Women in developed countries started to get more inclined towards jobs from service sectors. The main reason behind that was that it offered more salary as compared to any of above stated jobs and they gave more individual freedom to women. After world war – 2, a dramatic change was seen in the lives of women of developed countries. Life expectations increased dramatically and service sector offered thousands of vacancies. Despite of this, attitude towards women and legal precedents still proved to be among the reasons of sexual inequalities and due to these reasons ‘Equal Employment Opportunity Commission’ was formed in year 1965 and the work of this commission was to see that women gain access of jobs in every part of the country, Creating women studies programs in the countries and also looking into cases in which women were fired by their employers during pregnancy. The reason women were more inclined to service sector with respect to any other sector was that service sector during that time had ocean of opportunities.

what are the three basic types of city government and what are one strength an one weakness and size of city most effective
Nataliya [291]
The three main types of city governments are council-mayor (which can come with a strong mayor or with a weak mayor), council-manager, and commission (though very few cities actually have commission forms of government). Each of these has strengths and weaknesses. The strength of the commission form of government is that it is very democratic and it allows very close attention to be paid to each aspect of city government. In this form, one commission member is elected to oversee each major aspect of government. That person can give his or her undivided attention to that aspect of government. Its weakness, though, is that there is no central authority. In the council-mayor system, the strength is that you have an elected central authority. This allows one person to be responsible to the people for the whole city government. The main problem with this system is that you can have a mayor who is elected for his or her political acumen but who is a terrible manager. Such a person can significantly harm the way the city is run.In the council-manager system, you take care of this problem. The manager is a professional who knows how to run a city. This makes this system efficient. The problem is that it is less democratic because the manager is not elected by the people.
