Answer:

Example:

A bag contains 3 black balls and 5 white balls. Paul picks a ball at random from the bag and replaces it back in the bag. He mixes the balls in the bag and then picks another ball at random from the bag.

a) Construct a probability tree of the problem.

b) Calculate the probability that Paul picks:

i) two black balls

ii) a black ball in his second draw

Solution:

tree diagram

a) Check that the probabilities in the last column add up to 1.

b) i) To find the probability of getting two black balls, first locate the B branch and then follow the second B branch. Since these are independent events we can multiply the probability of each branch.

ii) There are two outcomes where the second ball can be black.

Either (B, B) or (W, B)

From the probability tree diagram, we get:

P(second ball black)

= P(B, B) or P(W, B)

= P(B, B) + P(W, B)

Well, let's just solve all these darn operations!

Please help find the area?!
frez [133]

Hey there! How is your day going?

Sorry if I'm a bit rusty here, math isn't my best subject, necessarily.

If you will notice ABCD is similar in size to EFGH, but the measurements are multiplied by 5. So, all we need to do is multiply the area of ABCD by 5.

35 x 5 = 175

So, your answer is 175 ft²

I hope this helped you, as it has helped me learn a different way to find the area of a rectangle. And I hope you have a very nice day!

Your friend in answering and in need,

~Steve

Which system of linear inequalities has the point (3,2) in its solution set?
chubhunter [2.5K]
None of the answers in the picture are the correct answer.
y > -2
y >= 2/3x -4
would be the correct answer here.
The reasoning is both the equations should have (3,2) as a possible solution.
For the first inequality y has to greater than -2 because the given point has 2 as the y coordinate.
also putting (3,2) in y = 2/3x - 4, we observe that the equation becomes 2 = -2. So there must be a >= sign in the second inequality.

The Dilation factor is greater than 1, hence the Dilation is an enlargement.

Dilation of a figure

Dilation occurs when an object changes position in an xy plane.

To get the scale factor of an image, we will take the ratio of the sides.

dilation factor = N'R'/NR

Given the following parameters

N'R' = 6

NR = 3

Dilation factor = 6/3

Dilation factor = 2

Since the Dilation factor is greater than 1, hence the Dilation is an enlargement.
