During the Roman Empire in Judea and Galilee, the Roman
governors were very much despised by the Jews. Judea was subjected to tyranny
because of Romans do not allow paganism and rebellion in their regime. The Jews
staged a rebellion that ousted the Romans.
Julius Caesar allowed Jews to keep their traditions, including their religious practices. Emperor Augustus respected the decision and continue to respect the Jewish people and gave Judaism the status of "religion allowed in the Roman Empire." Other cultural aspects of Jews were respected such as the Kosher dietary habits were honored. Diferences and problems between Romans and Jews started under Sejanus and were more than evident under Emperor Caligula.
