Women's lives change in the late 1800's because of many women's movement. These movement give certain rights to women and also gave recognition to women in society.

Women and women's organizations fought for social changes, political and economic equality on a large scale, and the ability to vote in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Women's employment in the United States increased from 2.6 million to 7.8 million between 1880 and 1910.

Even so, this changes. Women were expected to continue to be in subservience to their husbands and fathers. Their options for careers were also very constrained. Women from the middle and higher classes typically took care of their families at home while working.

Romashka [77]
