The poem "I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud" by William Wordsworth is one of the best nature poems written. He recounts how he had felt when he had encountered a field of daffodils.

The poem is the speaker's recollection of when once he had seen a field of daffodils and felt one with them. He even compared himself to the cloud, inferring his oneness with nature. The passage is from the third stanza of the poem when he sat there looking at the flowers and the lake. Comparing the lake and the flowers, he admits that the daffodils "Out-did the sparkling waves in glee". And he admits that this image can only make a "<em>poet [....] gay</em>", meaning he can't help feeling happy. This use of "company" in the fourth line of the third stanza refers to his feeling of contentment when among the daffodils.
