Write a function called count_occurrences that takes two strings. The second string should only be one character long. The funct
iVinArrow [24]

Answer:

Here is the Python function:

def count_occurrences (string1 , string2):  # method that takes two strings as parameter and returns how many times second string occurs in first

   count = 0  #counts number of occurrence of string2 in string1

   for word in string1:  #iterates through each word of the string1

       for character in word:  #iterates through each character of each word in string1

           if character == string2:  # checks if the character in string1 is equal to the character of string2

               count = count + 1  #adds 1 to the count of string2 in string1

   return count  #returns number of times the string2 occurs in string1

#in order to check the working of the function add the following lines to the code:

first_str = input("Enter the first string: ")  #prompts user to enter first string

second_str = input("Enter the second string (one character long): ") #prompts user to enter second string which should be one character long

occurrence = count_occurrences(first_str,second_str)  #calls count_occurrences method by passing both strings to it

print(second_str,"occurs",occurrence,"times in",first_str) #prints how many times the second_str occurs in the first_str on output screen

Explanation:

The program is well explained in the comments added to each statement of the above code. I will explain the program with an example:

Suppose

string1 = "hello world"

string2 = 'l'

So the method count_occurrences() should return how many times l occurs in hello world.

count is used to count the number of occurrences of l in hello world. It is initialized to 0.

The first loop iterates through each word of string1. The first word of string1 is "hello"

The second loop iterates through each character/letter of each word. So the first letter of "hello" word is 'h'.

The if condition if character == string2: checks if the character is equal to string2 i.e. l.

character = "h"

string2 = "l"

The are not equal so the program moves to the next character of word hello which is e. The if condition again evaluates to false because e is not equal to l. So the program moves to the next character of word hello which is l.

This time the if condition evaluates to true because

character = "l"

string2 = "l"

character == string2

l == l

So the if part is executed which has the following statement:

count = count + 1

So the count is added to 1. count was 0 previously. Now

count = 1

Next the program moves to the next character of word hello which is l. This time the if condition evaluates to true because the character l matches with string2. So count is again incremented to 1. count = 2.

Next the program moves to the next character of word hello which is o. The if condition evaluates to false as o does not match with string2 i.e. l. So the count remains 2.

Next the first loop moves to the next word of the string1 = "world". The inner (second) for loop iterates through each character of "world" from "w" to "d" and checks if any character is equal to string2. Only one character is equal to string2 in "world". So count is incremented to 1. Hence count = 3

After the loop ends the statement return count returns the number of times string2 occurs in the string1. So the output is:

l occurs 3 times in hello world

Why is it now difficult for computer technology to maintain the pace of
KatRina [158]

It now difficult for computer technology as manufacturing cannot keep up with overwhelming transistor demand.

<h3>What was Moore's Law ?</h3>

Moore's Law is the one that talks about the fact that the number of transistors on a microchip is one that often goes up about two years always, even if the cost of computers is reduced.

Based on the above, It now difficult for computer technology as manufacturing cannot keep up with overwhelming transistor demand.

Read the following scenario what type of business letter do you think is required in this situation?
grandymaker [24]

Answer:

Cover letter

Explanation:

The type of business letter Melissa and Melrose would need to write is a Cover letter.

The Cover Letter is usually not more than a page document which gives a kind of summary or hint about who individual is and the quality of the individual, while highlighting why an individual is the best fit for the role they are seeking for.

Most recruiters usually make use of the cover letter, as a first hurdle, to screen out applicants especially when applications are much.

Melissa and Melrose, in addition to the resume they would submit for the volunteering job, would need a cover letter.

In a program, you need to store the identification numbers of 10 employees (as integers) and their weekly gross pay (as double v
dedylja [7]

Answer:

The code to the given question can be given as:

Code:

1)

2 arrays that used to store 10 employee identification number and grosspay amount in parallel and its data-type is int and double.

int Employee_id[10]; //array that store integer value

double Weekly_Gross_Pay[10]; //array that store double value

2)

Define loop for print the details of employees’ identification number and weekly gross pay.

for(int i=0; i<10; i++)

{

cout <<Employee_id[i] <<" " << Weekly_Gross_Pay[i] << endl;

}

Explanation:

The explanation of the above code can be given as:

In Code (1) we declare two array that's data-type is integer and double. In Employee_id array it store the integer values and Weekly_Gross_Pay it store the double value.

In Code(2) It is used to print the value of array. In that code, we used for a loop because of its entry control loop and we know the size of the array. In this loop, we declare a variable (i) and initialized the value 0 and check the condition(i)less than 1 and increment of i. It prints all the 10 values.

A Python data model defining the state of a game for Tic-Tac-Toe. You must fully describe the notion of a state of the game, lim
Artist 52 [7]

Answer:

Check the explanation

Explanation:

Here in this game of Tic-Tac-Toe, it is using the TPGE engine which is a Tiny Python Game Engine. Let's talk about its functions like:-

def image_type(img): In this function, it is simply taking image as a parameter and returning its object type like DISC if the image is in graphical form, TEXT if it is a string, and LINE if it is other than the mentioned object.

def convert_image(img):  In this function, it is simply taking image as a parameter and returning an equivalent graphical object as understood by John Zelle's. Mainly comparing for three things in this function and those are: if image equals to DISC then it is calling convert_circle(function), if image equals to LINE then it is calling convert_line(function), and if image equals to TEXT then it is calling convert_text(function),

def convert_circle(x): This function takes a list( a group of values) and makes a circle at the center of the window and the circle's radius is coming from the list.

convert_text, convert_line, convert_circle are only creating text, line, and circle and then returning it.

def graphical_elements(images): This function is taking image as a parameter and then extracting shape and color from the image and then calling convert_image(shape) and convert_type(shape) and it gives us graphic and kind respectively. Now it is checking whether kind equals to DISC If yes then filling color on the window else, setting the outline of the window

def run(): Here it is finally running the game with required parameters, the whole game is continously running under the while loop.

That's all
