An initial time study was done on a process with the following results (in minutes). Based on the data obtained so far, assumi
kiruha [24]

Answer: 24.60 minutes (2dp)

Explanation:

The question is essentially asking that we find the Standard Time it takes to serve a customer.

To do this we would have to calculate the averages of the different elements and then use this to find the normal time which we can then use to find the Standard Time.

Element 1

= (3 + 4 + 4 + 3 + 3)/5

= 3.4

Element 2

= ( 9 + 8 + 10 + 11 + 10)/5

= 9.6

Element 3

= ( 7 + 8 + 6 + 7 + 8)/5

= 7.2

We then calculate the normal times by multiplying each of the individual means with their performance ratings.

That would be,

Element A

= 3.4 * 70%

= 2.38

Element B

= 9.6 * 110%

= 10.56

Element C

= 7.2 * 120%

= 8.64

We then add up the normal times to get the total normal time

= 2.38 + 10.56 + 8.64

= 21.58 minutes

Now we can solve for the standard time using this formula,

Standard time = Normal time (1+Allowance factor)

= 21.58 ( 1 + 0.14)

= 24.6012 minutes

= 24.60 minutes (2dp)

The time per unit customer served is 24.60 minutes.

If you need any clarification please do comment. Cheers.

Yakvenalex [24]

Answer:

It is cheaper to make the part in house.

Explanation:

Giving the following information:

Harrison Enterprises currently produces 8,000 units of part B13.

Current unit costs for part B13 are as follows:

Direct materials $12

Direct labor 9

Factory rent 7

Administrative costs 10

General factory overhead (allocated) 7

Total $45

If Harrison decides to buy part B13, 50% of the administrative costs would be avoided.

To calculate whether it is better to make the par in-house or buy, we need to determine which costs are unavoidable.

Unavoidable costs:

Factory rent= 7

Administrative costs= 5

General factory overhead= 7

Total= 17

Now, we can calculate the unitary cost of making the product in-house:

Unitary cost= direct material + direct labor + avoidable administrative costs

Unitary cost= 7 + 5 + 5= $17

It is cheaper to make the part in house.

sleet_krkn [62]

Answer:

Explanation:

ABSTRACT. Without a massive survey of U.S. employers, it is impossible to estimate or describe the full spectrum of those who provide occupational safety and health (OSH) services to the U.S. workforce. However, it was possible to assemble a description of the four traditional or core OSH professions (occupational safety, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, and occupational health nursing) as well as three other disciplines likely to play a substantial role in the workplace of the future: employee assistance professionals, ergonomists, and occupational health psychologists.

Although each of the four traditional OSH professions emphasizes different aspects of OSH, members of all four professions share the common goal of identifying hazardous conditions, materials, and practices in the workplace and assisting employers and workers in eliminating or reducing the attendant risks. Occupational safety professionals, although concerned about all workplace hazards, have traditionally emphasized the prevention of traumatic injuries and workplace fatalities. Similarly, industrial hygienists, although they do not ignore injuries, have been a source of special expertise on the identification and control of hazards associated with acute or chronic exposure to chemical, biological, and physical agents. Occupational health nurses and occupational medicine physicians are distinguished by providing clinical care and programs aimed at health promotion and protection and disease prevention. These services include not only diagnosis and treatment of work related illness and injury, but also pre-placement, periodic, and return-to-work examinations, impairment evaluations, independent medical examinations, drug testing, disability and case management, counseling
