By merging both religions, Hinduism arose and spread out all over the historic territory of India. With the rise of Islam, Hinduism lost some of its followers, mostly in what is now Pakistan and Bangladesh, while its followers remained almost exclusively in modern day India. Unlike the other major religions that managed to spread out of their cradles in one way or another, Hinduism did not.
