The U.S forces were deployed in Kuwait  in preparation for operation Iraqi freedom. The USA deployed over 480,000 soldiers for the war which was condemned by the UN as illegal and contravening the UN charter.  The aftermath of the war has been a far worse condition than it was before the attack.
