Answer:

HI VERDENT!

Explanation:

1) TRUE

2) THE PARLIAMENT

3) The main objective of the survey was to determine what taxes were owed during the reign of King Edward the Confessor, which determined William to reaffirm the rights of the Crown and assess where power will be affected after a total redistribution of land after the Norman conquest.

The advisors' calculation of a man's possessions and their values, as recorded in the Domesday Book, was decisive and without recourse.

4) TRUE

5) Fantastic sculptures.

6) TRUE (Common law, also known as case law, is a body of unwritten laws based on legalprecedents established by the courts. Common law draws from institutionalized opinions and interpretations from judicial authorities and public juries.)

7) Magna Carta, which means ‘The Great Charter’, is one of the most important documents in history as it established the principle that everyone is subject to the law, even the king, and guarantees the rights of individuals, the right to justice and the right to a fair trial.

The whole document is written in Latin, and the original Magna Carta had 63 clauses. Today, only three of these remain on the statute books; one defends the liberties and rights of the English Church, another confirms the liberties and customs of London and other towns, and the third gives all English subjects the right to justice and a fair trial. The third says:

“No free man shall be seized or imprisoned, or stripped of his rights or possessions, or outlawed or exiled, or deprived of his standing in any other way, nor will we proceed with force against him, or send others to do so, except by the lawful judgement of his equals or by the law of the land.

“To no one will we sell, to no one deny or delay right or justice.”

8) Its basic cause was a dynastic quarrel that originated when the conquest of England by William of Normandy created a state lying on both sides of the English Channel in the 14th cent. The English kings held the duchy of Guienne in France; they resented paying homage to the French kings, and they feared the increasing control exerted by the French crown over its great feudal vassals.

The immediate causes of the Hundred Years War were the dissatisfaction ofEdward III of England with the nonfulfillment by Philip VI of France of his pledges to restore a part of Guienne taken by Charles IV; the English attempts to control Flanders, an important market for English wool and a source of cloth; and Philip's support of Scotland against England.

9) Joan of Arc was important in the Hundred Years' War because somehow she managed to turn the tide of the war in favor of France. By 1429, the French side was in bad shape in the Hundred Years' War. They had suffered a huge defeat at Agincourt in 1415.

Answer:James McCulloch v. The State of Maryland, John James

McCulloch v. Maryland, 17 U.S. (4 Wheat.) 316 (1819), was a U.S. Supreme Court decision that defined the scope of the U.S. Congress's legislative power and how it relates to the powers of American state legislatures. The dispute in McCulloch involved the legality of the national bank and a tax that the state of Maryland imposed on it. In its ruling, the Supreme Court established firstly that the "Necessary and Proper" Clause of the U.S. Constitution gives the U.S. federal government certain implied powers that are not explicitly enumerated in the Constitution, and secondly that the American federal government is supreme over the states, and so states' ability to interfere with the federal government is limited

The state of Maryland had attempted to impede an operation by the Second Bank of the United States through a tax on all notes of banks not chartered in Maryland. Though the law, by its language, was generally applicable to all banks not chartered in Maryland, the Second Bank of the United States was the only out-of-state bank then existing in Maryland, and the law was thus recognized in the court's opinion as having specifically targeted the Bank of the United States. The Court invoked the Necessary and Proper Clause of the Constitution, which allows the federal government to pass laws not expressly provided for in the Constitution's list of express powers if the laws are useful to further the express powers of Congress under the Constitution.
