Protein composes 10-30% of cell mass and is the basic structural material of the body. However, not all proteins are constructio

n materials. Many play vital roles in cell function. Proteins, which include enzymes (biological catalysts), hemoglobin of the blood, and contractile proteins of muscle, have the most varied function of any molecules in the body. All proteins contain carbon, oxygen, hydrogen, and nitrogen, and many contain sulfur as well. The building blocks of proteins are __________.

Answer:

Amino acids

Explanation:

Like a house, every molecule is formed of units (blocks) that determine their structure and function. Proteins have a diverse functions in the body and are very important in multiple biological processes.  Proteins are molecules called polymers (molecules formed by monomers), the simplest units of proteins are the amino acids (building blocks). The amino acids are bind together by peptide bonds and when the chain of amino acids is less than 30 is called peptide and more than 30 is called protein. Every amino acid has a special structure and the type and number of aminoacids determinate the structure and function of the protein.

Do Meiosis and Mitosis occur in all organisms?
NemiM [27]

Answer:

No, not <em>all </em>organisms.

Explanation:

Hi there,

As you may continue to learn in biology, not all organisms go through the process of mitosis/meiosis. Well known examples are prokaryotes, such as  bacteria and archaea, ancient organisms that replicate via binary fission, budding, and/or fragmenting

Mitosis and Meiosis only occur in eukaryotes and unique to them.

thanks,

Why does organisms disappear overtime?
xz_007 [3.2K]
Extinction is a natural process that may be caused by natural selection, shortage of food or natural calamities. Hunting, deforestation, pollution, the conversion of uncultivated areas into pastures, the illicit trade of wild animals as well as climatic changes have made life more difficult for many animals.
