Scientists have engineered bacteria to produce human proteins such as insulin to help treat diabetes Suppose the unmodified euka

ryotic gene coding for insulin is inserted directly into a bacterial chromosome. Select the reasons why no expression would be seen in the bacterial cell for the insulin gene.
a. The bacterial RNA polymerase will not bind to the eukaryotic promoter sequence.
b. The gene will induce attenuation in the bacterial cell, which will cause a delay in the transcription and translation of the insulin gene.
c. The bacterial nucleoid does not have the proper proteins to transcribe the eukaryotic gene.
d. Bacteria cannot remove intronic sequence from a gene, so if the gene for insulin were transcribed, it would translate to a nonfunctional protein.

Which of the following statements is/are consistent with the fluid-mosaic model of membranes? (Select all that apply.) The lipid
vfiekz [6]

The correct answers are: The lipid bilayer and proteins exist side by side without covalent bonds between them and Some proteins and lipids undergo lateral diffusion along the inner or outer surface of the membrane

According to fluid mosaic model, there is a lipid bilayer that gives fluidity and in which the protein molecules are embedded.

The membrane is mosaic because there is a pattern of different types of molecules that are put together. Molecules are constantly moving in two dimensions.

Components of the cell membrane include:

• Phospholipids – Form a bilayer

• Cholesterol –improves stability and reduce fluidity

• Proteins –integral (transmembrane) or peripheral

• Sugars-usually attached to proteins.

What is it called when vesicles are used to move substances into a cell
tatuchka [14]

Answer:

Endocytosis

Explanation:

Some molecules that are required by a cell are so large that they cannot pass into a cell by either the cell membrane or by any carrier protein. These molecules are transported into the cell by the process named as endocytosis.

In this process, the cell membrane forms a vesicle, a membrane-bound sac, around the large molecule. Then, the vesicle pinches the molecule into the cytoplasm of the cell. Energy is required for this process to occur.

The chief executive officer asks the nurse manager of the telemetry unit to justify the disproportionately high number of regist
Igoryamba

Answer:

The preferable option will be - C.

C. Improves outcomes.

Explanation:

 • Studies related to staffing and patient outcomes suggest that patient outcomes are improved with a low nurse-to-patient ratio and especially with a low registered nurse-to-patient ratio.
 • If one nurse has to take care of more patients then the service quality will fall down.
 • If one nurse will take care of one or two patients then the service will be better.
 • The more the 1:1 ratio, the more the better service.

The membrane proteins that maintain the shape of the cell membrane, form cell junctions, and allow cells to attach to the extrac
bulgar [2K]

The membrane proteins that maintain the shape of the cell membrane, form cell junctions, and allow cells to attach to the extracellular matrix are whole proteins, however, to better understand this answer, we need to know that....

Membrane proteins

The plasma membrane contains proteins that are embedded in the lipid bilayer. These perform several functions in the cell, such as:

 • Transport of substances
 • Enzymatic activities
 • and Communication between cells.

The amount of proteins and the types found in the membrane are related to the activity exerted by that cell.

The proteins present in the plasma membrane can be classified into two groups:

 • integral proteins
 • peripheral proteins.

Integral proteins are those that penetrate the phospholipid bilayer. Integral proteins capable of completely crossing the membrane are called transmembrane proteins. These may cross the membrane one or more times.

Peripheral proteins, in turn, are those that do not penetrate the plasma membrane, with only a weak connection to the membrane being observed. Because of this, peripheral proteins can be easily dissociated from the membrane.

With this information, we can conclude that integral proteins are responsible for the shape of the cell membrane, they are embedded in the lipid bilayer.

1.)If ang 1-7 and ACEII levels are increased it will result in heart failure-Angiotensin converting enzyme 2 (ACE2), a homologue of ACE, is a monocarboxypeptidase that converts angiotensin II (Ang II) into angiotensin 1–7 (Ang 1–7) which, by virtue of its actions on the Mas receptor, opposes the molecular and cellular effects of Ang II. ACE2 is widely expressed in cardiomyocytes, cardiofibroblasts, and coronary endothelial cells.
2.) ACE2 and ang 1-7 is thought to be cardio protective because ACE2 and Ang 1–7 have emerged as a key protective pathway against heart failure with reduced and preserved ejection fraction
3.) three strains of coronavirus: SARS-CoV, NL63 and SARS-CoV-2. ACE2 receptors are ubiquitous and widely expressed in the heart, vessels, gut, lung - so yes it would increase the likelihood of being infected
