The dependent clause is the one that can stand by itself.  It must have a subject and predicate.  "Because he's so good at playing piano" does have a subject and a predicate, but when you put the word 'because' at the beginning, which is a subordinating conjunction, it is not a dependent clause.  Therefore, the answer is D, Steven was asked to play at the concert next month.
