The story follows a unique plot, and the structure is atypical. This enhances the uniqueness of the story and uses many devices such as flashbacks, facts and present stories that are all interconnected to the plot. The main idea is family time should be made a priority, and that screen time interferes with family time. Screen time should be thereby, effectively lessened. The story title refers to the author’s reflection on the several negative effects of technology, and how it interferes with the way people function in their personal lives.

Further Explanation:

The author’s own usage of technology is significantly flawed, as she reminisces the good times she had in the past with her mother and sister. Through the story, the author tries to use a persuasive tone to convince the audience on the downfalls of technology, as it pushes away family from the individual.

The author uses several literary devices to emphasize both persuasion and action to the readers. The author strongly recommends that technology usage should not usurp time with our family or loved ones. The modern generation is in the string grip of technology and refuses to establish or rekindle the intimate connections that they had with their loved ones. The author urges the readers to formulate a plan of action so that screen time is limited, which will allow for more time with the family. The author uses personal experiences and other examples to provide a first-person perspective to the readers on how technology limits us to our own personal spaces. The story has a personal touch, which engages the reader.
