Answer:

Sir Gawain is not an Anglo-Saxon tale, but a medieval one, moreover he is a weak and clumsy gentleman, unlike Beowulf who is a strong and honorable prince. Furthermore, Sir Gawain puts himself at risk of saving his king, while Beowulf is a man who fights for his own goals.

Explanation:

Sir Gawain is the main character in one of the most important medieval epic poems "Sir Gawain and the Green Knight". The poem tells the story of the knight of the round table Sir Gawain, who is also the nephew of King Arthur.

Although he is a warrior, he is weak and awkward in relation to others. He accepts the green knight's challenge to save Arthur from being injured and possibly dying. He accepts the challenge because he believes he is a mediocre knight and of little value, so his loss would not have as dire consequences as the loss of Arthur.

Without question, then, Beowulf and Sir Gawain are epic heroes by definition, although Sir Gawain and the Green Knight is written in Medieval Romance tradition and it too short to be considered an epic poem as is Beowulf. Moreover, Sir Gawain is more of a romantic hero than he is an epicone.Feb 26, 2014

Martin Luther King uses the image of a festering boil in order to convince the church of the need to bring the injustice of racism to light. Perhaps the most important aspect of the metaphor, along with the ugliness and toxicity of both a boil and racism, is the fact that to open a boil is a painful and scary process. Just as it is easier in the short term to let a boil stay untouched, due to its sensitivity, the church did not want to address the issue of racial injustice due to the uproar and it would cause in its communities.

Dr. King uses figurative language to compare the pus-flowing ugliness of a popped boil to the violence and disorder that must arise from facing the problem of race relations head on. In doing so, he both addresses the toxicity and ugliness of racism in society, and also the need to go through the painful experience of bringing it to light.
