The Colombian Exchange decimated the Native American population by bringing over diseases Europeans had long since developed an immunity to, but that Native Americans had no resistance to. These diseases wiped out millions of Natives, long before they even met a European.

This lead to war in which the Pequots were decimated. Most of them were killed, had to flee or were sold as slaves.</span>
