Explain the processes of diffusion and osmosis and their roles within a cell? plss help with a thorough expliation
Natalija [7]

Answer:

Diffusion:

Substances, such as water, ions, and molecules needed for cellular processes, can enter and leave cells by a passive process such as diffusion.Diffusion is a type of substance movement that requires no energy to be expended for the substance to move. Simple diffusion occurs when there is no obstacle to the substance so it can diffuse freely.

Osmosis:

Osmosis is the movement of a solvent across a semipermeable membrane toward a higher concentration of solute (lower concentration of solvent). There are three types of solutions that's determine osmosis-

1) hypotonic solution: in this case the solvent is less and the solution is more(dilute solution).More water is there outside the cell than inside the ell, so the water moves into the cell which causes the cell to swell up

2)hypertonic solution: in this case there is more solute than solvent(concentrated). More water is there inside the cell than outside the cell, so more water will leave the cell than it enters as a result the cell will shrink.

3) Isotonic solution: the amount of water inside the cell is equal to water outside the cell as a result the cell will neither shrink not swell.

Examples of diffusion:

Oxygen and carbon dioxide, dissolved in water, are exchanged by diffusion in the lungs: oxygen moves down a concentration gradient from the air in the alveoli to the blood. carbon dioxide moves down a concentration gradient from the blood to the air in the alveoli.

Examples of osmosis:

Osmosis occurs to recover water from waste material. Kidney dialysis is an example of osmosis. In this process, the dialyzer removes waste products from a patient's blood through a dialyzing membrane(acts as a semi-permeable membrane) and passes them into the dialysis solution tank.

What have you learned about radioactive dating? Check all that apply.
Mila [183]

Application of radioactive dating

Explanation:

 • It is used to detect the relationship between two closely related organism that are found from ancient period of time.
 • It is also use to detect the age of a newly discovered fossil.
 • Not only in the field of archaeology,it also used in the field of geology, sedimentology, for studying different lakes.
 • Isotope of iodine is used in medical field, to detect the cancer cells.
 • The isotope of carbon is used to detect the release of carbon in the ecosystem to monitor the release of old carbon which is stored in the soil thus it helps to detect the climate change which is done by anthropologenic disturbance.

How does the urban and natural water cycle compare?
ruslelena [56]

Answer:

Explanation:

he natural water cycle is a continuing process of evaporation, condensation, precipitation and groundwater (Figure 1). ... The urban water cycle (Figure 2) shows the consequences of increased development. More development and more concrete means less infiltration of rainwater into the soil, and more run off.

The embryonic development of animals suggests an order of relation between humans and other animals; some animals being more clo
allsm [11]
The correct answer is C

As you can see in the picture presented below, the 3rd image of the embryonic development resembles the human embryonic development very much, which may indicate the evolutionary closeness of these animals with humans.
The second an third images show various differences in the embryonic development and therefore also show a smaller degree of evolutionary closeness with humans
