Jackson was born into poverty on the South Carolina frontier. At age 13, Jackson joined militia to fight the British in the American Revolution. Moved to Tennessee to practice law. He earned enough to buy farm and slaves. Jackson defeated N.O. in the War of 1812 and became a war hero. Was nickname "Old Hickory". Ran for President and won most popular but majority. Did not become President. <span>Jackson won election and became President.</span>

It happened because the people wanted to respond to the growing problems between the colonies and the Intolerable Acts created by the British Parliment. This congress included the 13 representatives of the colonies except Georgia. Some of the people that wee there were George Washington, Patrick Henry, John Adams, Samuel Adams and John Jay. The reason for this continental congress was unifying colonies and colonists against the Coercive Act too.
