Adults working with developing children with disabilities must understand that some children are reluctant; that is with less initiative than others without disabilities. Children with disabilities can develop initiative by encouraging them to explore, try things such as allowing them try on powerful roles and feelings, and solve problems themselves through play environment. It is also important to know that most children with lesser initiative may not have had opportunities to explore through play environment usuallyby the overprotective action of the parents.
