Describe how humans are causing an increase in surface runoff and the negative consequences this causes.

Explanation:

By destroying vegetation and building concrete structures humans are decreasing the rate at which precipitated rain water percolates into the grounds - because vegetation slow down runoff. This, therefore, increases surface runoffs that erode and carry more soil towards water bodies like lakes. Moreso sprawled cities block natural waterways for natural drainage of water. This causes water runoff to get worse and erode more soil. This causes siltation  that chokes up marine life.
