To put it in very simple terms, communication is the exchange of information. The goal of an effective communication is to have the message that is sent by an individual X (the sender) be clearly received by individual Y (the receiver). The sender composes the message and delivers it to the receiver. This can be done either in writing or orally. The receiver should be able to clearly understand the intent of the message.
