The correct answer is - Dry and hot.

The leeward side of the mountains are the sides that receive much less precipitation, thus they are much drier, and usually warmer than the windward side of the mountains.

The eastern side of the Sierra Nevada Mountains is not an exception, and this side of the mountain is very dry, in fact it is so dry that most often it is the driest place in the United States. Apart from being dry, this side of the mountain is also very hot, with the highest temperatures in the country being recorder there. The fact that there's a desert known by the name of Death Valley on this side of Sierra Nevada, says it all.
