Answer:

Nicholas Steno

Explanation:

Nicholas Steno who was a Catholic priest establish relationship between sedimentary rock layers otherwise called stratigraphy.

Stratigraphy is a branch of geology that deals with the study of rock layers. He established theoretical law of stratigraphy by introducing law of superimposition, principle of original horizontality and the principle of lateral continuity in 1669 work of fossilization of organic matter sediments.

(3) active transport

The molecules would be moving against their concentration gradient from a region of low concentration to a region of high concentration.

While cells facilitate the transport of molecules via movement across the cell membrane, there many different mechanisms. These include passive diffusion, facilitated diffusion, and passive transport. However some very large molecules require specialized type of active transport, which requires energy in the form of ATP, in order to move substances across the membrane against their concentration gradient.

Active transport is a mediated process that requires an energy input and the use of specialized membrane proteins to move against the concentration gradient. These proteins require energy in the form of adenosine triphosphate or ATP in order to facilitate necessary conformational changes to the large protein molecules to alter the spatial location of the molecule. For instance, with Na+, K+ pumps in cell membranes.

-Dominant- [34]

Availability of Plankton

Explanation:

 • The term plankton comes from the Greek derivative planktos, meaning wandering. Organisms in this group spend either part or all of their life in a drifting state, with no ability to swim against a current. Most have little or no ability to swim at all. Though some are larger, most planktonic creatures are microscopic and make up the bottom of the food chain in aquatic environments
 • Plankton can be divided into two categories: phytoplankton are those organisms that are plant-like, and zooplankton are organisms that are animal-like. Interestingly enough, many planktonic species are neither plant nor animal but are creatures that belong to the kingdom Protista
 • Zebra muscles are found in water bodies which attached to pipes and other surfaces of water supply to impliment the availability of plankton
