t. Hot spots occurs at abnormally hot centers known as mantle plumes. Scientific models depict these plumes of molten rock almost like a lava lamp, with a rising bulbous head fed by a long, narrow tail that originates in the mantle. This type of volcanism, hot spot volcanism, is unique. Why?
Because the resulting volcanoes always produce islands.
B) Because it occurs where two tectonic plates converge and this is usually the site of mountain-building.
C) Because it does not occur at the boundaries of Earth’s tectonic plates, where all other volcanism occurs.

What do you mean by mohorovicic discontinuity
Lera25 [3.4K]

Answer:

The Moho is the boundary between the crust and the mantle in the earth. Also termed the Mohorovicic' discontinuity after the Croatian seismologist Andrija Mohorovicic' (1857-1936) who discovered it. The boundary is between 25 and 60 km deep beneath the continents and between 5 and 8 km deep beneath the ocean floor.

The Mohorovičić discontinuity usually referred to as the Moho discontinuity or the Moho, is the boundary between the Earth's crust and the mantle. It is defined by the distinct change in velocity of seismological waves as they pass through changing densities of rock.
