The Tennessee Valley Authority was a union that constructed dams and power plants to improve the impoverished regions during the Great Depression. (I learned about this in Segment 1 of U.S. History this year.)

The purpose of the Tennessee Valley Authority (1933) was to modernize the rural Tennessee River Valley 's economy and society which was one of the regions most affected and impoverished by the Great Depression. The corporation aimed to accomplish this by bringing electricity to the region, operating the hydroelectric Wilson Dam, improving the navigability of the Tennessee River, providing flood control through reforestation of marginal lands in the Tennessee Valley watershed, by developing agriculture, commerce and industry and by making plans and taking actions for the construction of dams, reservoirs, and power plants.

The correct answer is a student in japan practices English by talking with students in Ireland over the internet

Doing anything over the internet would only be capable in the modern era of human history because the Internet did not exist until the second half of the twentieth century. Whether it is teaching or just communicating, it would only be possible in newer times and with the development of the internet as it is, it's highly likely it would be an event from the 21st century.

Punishing someone for an action that did not used to be a crime is an example of
Naddik [55]

The correct option is "an ex-post facto law."

The ex post facto means after the fact or incident. The law punishes someone for an action that does not used to be a crime when the action was performed. For example, you play in front of Congress and next day legislators make a law which criminalizes the same. So next day you will be arrested under the ex post facto law. Under the US constitution this law has been declared unconstitutional as fairness has been the fundamental principal of US constitution and democracy.
