Answer: Definition is the act of describing, or of making something definite, distinct, or clear.

Explanation: Definition is the action or power of describing, explaining, or making something definite and clear usually of words, or a group of words. It can also be seen as a statement of the meaning words or word groups or a signs or symbols etc. (dictionary definitions).

Certain terms often have many different senses and several meanings, and therefore, require multiple definitions. As such definitions are classed into three: intensional definitions that attempt to give the sense of a term, extensional definitions which try to list the things that a term describes and ostensive definitions, which convey the meaning of a term by giving examples.
