Answer: A.  $25.5

B.  $15.3

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : The sale price of every item in a store is 85 percent of its usual price

A. The usual price of a backpack is $30.

Then , the sale price = 85% of (usual price of a backpack )

= 0.85  x ($30)

= $25.5

Hence, the sales price of backpack = $25.5

B. The usual price of a sweatshirt is $18.

Then , the sale price of sweatshirt = 85% of ( usual price of a sweatshirt)

=0.85 x ($18)

= $15.3

Hence, the sale price of sweatshirt =  $15.3

for A multiply 85 and 30. then subtract 30 by the product, this gives you the sale price. For B you do the same thing but you multiply 18 and 85. then 18 subtracted by the product which gives you the sale price.

Jane says that she can use addition to show that the graphs of 2x - 3y = 1 and 2x + 3y = 2 are intersecting lines. In two or mor
iogann1982 [59]
For this case we have the following equations:
 2x - 3y = 1
 2x + 3y = 2
When adding both equations we observe that:
Sentence 1: we have an equation of a variable, which in this case will be x. We can clear the value of x.
Sentence 2: Knowing the value of x, we can substitute in any equation and find the value of y.
Sentence 3: The value of x and y represents the point of intersection of both lines (x, y).

The janitor at a school discovered a leak in a pipe. The janitor found that it was leaking at a rate of 11 fl oz per hour. How f
netineya [11]
Here's what you need to know in order to answer this:

       1 gallon  =  128 fl oz
and
       1 day  =  24 hours.

Use those facts to invent fractions equal to ' 1 '.
Then use those to change the units of the "11 fl oz per hour".
You can multiply them ... since their value is ' 1 ', they won't
change the value of the "11 fl oz per hour", only the units.

                  (11 fl oz/hr) x (24 hr/da) x (1 gal / 128 fl oz)

               = (11 x 24 x 1 / 128)  (fl-oz - hr - gal) / (hr - da - fl-oz)

               =         2.0625                        gal/da
