To check, we can solve how much sunscreen is in a family sized bottle first. We need to find what is 20% of 12. First, turn 20% into a decimal: 20%/100= 0.2. Now, multiply 0.2 by 12, which is 2.4. Then, you add this to 12 because it is 20% more. 12+2.4= 14.4. Multiply this by 4: 14.4*4=57.6. Since his number is close to 50, he is kinda correct, but a much more reasonable answer would be closer to 60. Hope this helped!

Give the line that is parallel to the line y=-5x-2 and goes through (3,-9)
igor_vitrenko [27]

Answer: I don’t think there is such a line. A Line that passes through the point (3,-9) must have a positive slope, unlike the line y=-5x-2, which has a negative slope. If a line where to go through (3,-9), is would intersect the line you presented.

What is the quotient written in scientific notation? 6 x 10^24 /8 x 10^8
Artist 52 [7]

When you divide 6x10^24 by 8x10^8 you end up with \frac{6}{8} x10^{16}

This simplifies to 0.75x10^{16}

Now this number is not written in scientific notation as it does not have its first digit before the decimal, so we must move the decimal of this one to the right.

To do that you must multiply the number by 10.

This means that the exponet of 10 must decrease by 1.

This makes the answer 7.5x10^{15}

Solving Exponential and Logarithmic Equations In Exercise, solve for x.<br> In 2x - In(3x - 1) = 0
LenKa [72]

Answer:

\frac{-1}{3x^2-x}

Step-by-step explanation:

  1. If f(x) is in th form of f(x)=g(x)-h(x) then f'(x)=g'(x) - h'(x)
  2. When f(x)=z(g(x)) then f'(x)= z'(g(x))g'(x) (called as chain rule)

<u>using these information</u>:

g(x)=ln2x then g'(x)=\frac{(2x)'}{2x} =\frac{2}{2x}=\frac{1}{x}

h(x)=In(3x - 1) then h'(x)=\frac{(3x-1)'}{3x-1} =\frac{3}{3x-1}f'(x)=g'(x) - h'(x) =[tex]\frac{1}{x} - \frac{3}{3x-1} =\frac{-1}{3x^2-x}
